Residential Treatment?

Hello, My 14 yo d is currently inpatient with her 2nd suicide attempt in one year. She has extreme social anxiety and is now (again) refusing to go to school. She did go to a residential program this past summer at Willow Springs in Reno, which was a complete nightmare, not therapeutic, no psych eval until 1 week prior to discharge, no appropriate treatment. I am afraid I can no longer keep her safe at home and she needs a comprehensive residential DBT program. Unfortunately I cannot seem to find anything on the west coast (we live in California). Have any of you parents had success finding a reputable program for your child? I am so afraid to get into another Willow Springs situation, but she needs 24 hour care. What to do? 

Our objective is to better understand the struggles our child faces and to learn the skills to improve our relationship and provide a supportive environment and also improve on our own emotional responses, attitudes and effectiveness as a family leaders

I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience with RTC.  I have recently placed my daughter in a DBT based program in a RTC, but unfortunately we are on the East Coast, in Maine.  Things are going really well.  She is attending school, has been safe, and we had a very nice home visit for Thanksgiving.  I'm sorry I can't be more help to you, but I wanted to at least post and say there are facilities out there that do a good job.  I wish you and your daughter the best.

It is a difficult situation you are in, I am so sorry, worrying about our child's safety is the worst... . 

How long do you have for research, how long is your dd going to be in the current place?

How would you feel about placing her somewhere temporarily just to keep her safe while you are looking for a better place?

Some members here have sent their child away to a different state for better treatment - how would you feel about that? It would put more pressure on you because of the separation and travel on the other hand, you may have more options that way... .
