I recently admitted my 16 yo daughter to a psych hospital for major depression and after weeks of observation was informed of her BPD and npd traits.  While I see it and feel it explains a lot, it is still hard to process.

How do you explain this to a 16 year old?

Hello BWire and  Welcome

I'm sorry you have had such difficult news. I imagine it has been hard living with a daughter who has been so troubled. I'm glad you found our site as you'll find there are many members here who understand your situation. You are not alone.

What has your daughter been told at the hospital? How is she handling being there?

'm sure it is hard to process the news. I suggest you read and post on the Parenting a son or daughter suffering from BPD board. You'll find some helpful resources there. And you'll also find some great members who can provide you with some support.

Please keep posting. You've come to the right place.

I have a 15 yr old daughter who started with a major depression diagnosis six months ago. She has had many suicide attempts in the last six months and four acute hospitalizations. She is currently in a residential treatment center and they are talking about BPD. It is very hard for all of us. I don't know how I can help, but you are not alone!

The best way you can help is to head over to the parenting board and participate.  Share your story... .ask questions... .share your experiences using the tools.

It will help the community get stronger... .and will help you get stronger and be better able to properly support the pwBPD traits in your life.

Welcome Welcome Welcome  to everyone.

Thanks for posting.
