Some good news

Only posting this in here because this is where I usually post about my relationship. 

I know I've posted about SO's kids not having birth certificates or SSN's.  She's always claimed her XH wouldn't let her get them.  They were all home births and the attending health professional (SO calls her a "Family Practioner" but when I've looked her up she's licensed for massage therapy or something) also threw out all the medical records she had on SO kids, so there was very little in the way of documentation.

SO has been through years of tracking down old records with schools, old insurance plans, etc.  At one point she had passports based on secondary documentation, but those expired.  Well, she eventually cobbled together enough stuff to get new passports.  The passport lady even helped alot by pointing SO to applications for victims of DV where she didn't need to get her XH's signature for the passport applications.  So she got the passports renewed several months ago finally.

A few weeks ago she was in FL for a court hearing to have delayed birth certificates issued.  She got the order, and just a few days ago received the delayed birth certs in the mail.

And yesterday she finally got the SSN's approved.  She should get the cards in the next 10 days.

So after years of trying to get her kid's documentation straightened out, constant roadblocks, etc., it's finally done.

Next she'll be able to get our tax guy to submit a bunch of stuff and get her straightened out with the IRS because she's not been submitting taxes.  She couldn't claim the kids with no SSN's, so she never filed over the years.  The tax guy has been helping her as she's been getting nastigrams from the IRS.  Now she'll finally be able to get all that straightened out too.  And the tax guy even has her filings set up that she'll get a bunch of money from them (supposedly!).  I'm not holding my breath but the tax guy is a 20 year IRS employee that left to start his own tax business and he knows what he's doing.

The tax issue has been holding her back from getting her FAFSA approved for finishing her degree as well, so maybe by start of summer classes she can start again.  She has an old FAFSA application from 2013 still on hold as well.  I paid out of pocket for her to take 3 classes and she was going to pay me back when she got the FAFSA check.  Then she hit the road block over taxes.  I'm really hoping she can still get that FAFSA check for those classes and pay me back because the debt is currently being carried on my credit card.  I've been rolling it over to no interest cards to carry it, but I really want it paid off.

Regardless of any other relationship issues, it's a big relief for this to be finally done.
