S10 has been at an RTC for 1.5 years.  Still raging every 2-3 weeks, just a bit.  He had a bunch of hard news in January and regressed to some of his worst behavior from much earlier, inclusing suicidal ideation.  Now also displaying sexualized behaviors (singing songs about sex, sexual language, trying to be offensive and shocking).  Beginning to worry about where he can be safely educated.  The RTC appears to be doing their job well, he just is an extreme case.  What do we do if treatment at an RTC fails?

Set backs and disappointments are all part of the process forward.  Hard to hold onto that when you are in the valley I know ProfDad.

He is 10 years old... .lots of years ahead for him to improve... .yes?  For him to mature... .yes?

Try to focus on the positives if you can.

He is safe, he is under excellent care, he is still very young, he has shown improvement, etc... .

Thanks.  It is easy to get way ahead of the process, saddled with expectations of what should happen over the next few years.  When I get outside of living in the present moment, it is either a delusion of ease or a premonition of doom.  Neither is helpful to me or my family.

Take the middle path ProfDaddy.

profdaddy-

Bless your heart. Wish I had some words to lend you hope. My fall back is to quote some words from Samuel Johnson. I believe them .

"Hope is necessary in every condition."

Hope for your son... .and for you and the rest of your family.

If you like to read maybe you can find some comfort in The Power of Now- Eckhart Tolle
