Hi everyone  ,

Quick intro... .

My husband and are parents to 4 children, one of which as 8/9 BPD traits.  She is 15 and was hospitalized for the first time in Jan.  She was in for 2 weeks and now is enrolled in an outpatient anxiety/depression treatment program with the same hospital.  In hindsight, I can see her behaviors adding up to his since she was a little girl.  Although she has not been diagnosed, admittedly her therapists concur that she has the traits/behaviors and we are treating as such.  She's been home for 2.5 weeks now and has had two major blow-up/melt-downs one resulted in her leaving the house at night so we called the police.  She refused to come home with us so a family member took her for 2 nights.  While she was in her rage/delusional state she was adamant about going to foster care instead of home.  Last 2 days have been calm... .waiting for the other shoe to drop is making me anxious and a little depressed.  My husband (her step of 11 yrs) is a super support and totally on the same page, thank God.

So that's a pinch about my situation

Hi marla

And welcome to the site.  We are glad you are here and sharing your story with us.

We have much in common as parents to children with disorders and are here to support each other through validating our experiences, feelings, and thoughts and learn clinically proven skills to help ourselves and our families.

Looking through the Tools and Lessons on the right is a good place to begin your journey of understanding your child and what skills can be used to improve your relationship with her while learning to cope.

We are here to help you along the way so let us know what we can do... .ok?

Hi marla,

Just wanted to check in and see how things are going with you and your daughter.

Have you had a chance to look at the tools and skills yet?  Any questions?

We are here for you!

So nice to see you here! My 15 yr old DD has all of the traits of BPD and sounds a lot like your daughter. She recently did 5 weeks in treatment after her 4th suicide attempt. She is not very proactive in working her DBT program or very motivated to take part in changing her behaviors. I hope that this site will help you an glad to see someone with similar experiences! Welcome!

Hi Marla

I was just wondering at what age did you notice your daughters behaviour and what In particular was it that had you concerned?

I ask as I have a 21 month old with my uBPDexgf and he doesnt like the word no and lashes out when he doesnt get his own way. He will have a tantrum then at the flick of a switch stop and start playing again. I cant remember my eldest children doing this so not sure if its normal behaviour.
