Many parents seek to get their children the best care possible and many times that means long term inpatient care at a Residential Treatment Facility after years of ineffective outpatient treatment.   Making the decision to seek long term inpatient treatment is a difficult one.  After the very difficult decision has been made then the biggest obstacle becomes funding for long term care( more than 3 months).

How were you able to get your child's RTC placement funded?

What obstacles did you face and what processes did you go through to overcome them?  Which resources were the most beneficial for you?

How were you able to get your child's RTC placement funded?  Second mortgage, money saved for retirement, 0% credit cards.  Our insurance will pay a small percentage of the therapy, but not boarding or schooling.

What obstacles did you face and what processes did you go through to overcome them?  Which resources were the most beneficial for you?

At first we thought it was just too expensive, but we became desperate enough that we no longer cared how much debt we were in.  We decided it was more important than funding her college or our retirement.

We reached out to an educational consultant, which helped us find the best facility for her.  www.strugglingteens.com/ec/

Dad to my wolf pack

Finding the best facility is key. My boss put his son into a second one where he finally got a DD as being bi-polar in addition to the drug and alcohol addictions. It literally saved his life. Home equity and 401(k) loans.
