Hi All

My daughter has just been diagnosed with BPD. she is 20. I have always thought she was a moody teenager, until recently she attempted suicide. She was then involved with a fantastic mental health team, and is also today. She is having therapy cognitive behaviour therapy. I am just hoping this will help her manage this.

Hi Marie!

New here myself with an undiagnosed, as of yet, 20 yo son.  He's had a lot of therapy, some suicidal ideation, rehab.  He's back home after a year on his own (with our help). We have him at a therapy practice that offers DBT, so I'm hopeful after years of ineffective diagnoses and treatment we might be close to getting him the help he needs. This site has been fantastic for me to learn about BPD and get support.  My most recent find is the Most Often Viewed Topics that's found at the top of the parenting main board.  Couldn't stop reading it last night.  Cried, but in the end felt a lot better and less isolated.

I hope you're daughter will benefit from this point forward and that you will too!

p.s.  To be more specific, the second bold heading, Parenting a teen or adult child, the 3rd reply has a link to the most viewed topics.  That's the only way I've found to access it! Hope that's clear!
