the last of my three lovely children turn 18 tomorrow.  (twin girls)  my third will be 20 in may.  I am well down the path towards leaving.  I have  no romantic or intimate feelings towards my wife whatsoever.  I am sick of being criticized and berated for everything I do.  I have a boss not a partner.  I have stayed this long because I feared leaving the children alone with her for weeks at a time.  but that restriction will now be gone.  for anyone who has had experience, how did your young adult children handle the news and what / how did you tell them.  was a split after a long marriage (28 years for me) hard for them

Oh, yes... .we went through this!

When I reconnected with my DH (we had been crazy about each o t her as teens), he had been married for 19 years then living separately from his ex BUT NOT DIVORCED, for ano t her 14 years -so a total of 33 years.

His children were excited and happy that he had found someone who made him happy, and they still express that to DH - and to me - on a regular basis.

Go for what you want your future to look like... you might be surprised at what you learn about members of your extended family.
