I had my adult daughter over last night, with friends, for dinner. Ahead of time, she said she was nervous but would participate in conversations if we engaged her. When we did, she was receptive, animated and delightful. But 90% of the time she spent on her phone. It made it difficult to interact with her and I thought it was insulting behavior. I wouldn't have asked her to put the phone away in front of our guests but I'd like to let her know I found it inappropriate, and in the future, she should put her phone away. How do I tell/ask her?
Thanks.

Good luck! My daughter came for Thanksgiving dinner a year ago and spent almost all of the time texting on her phone. I did not say anything. I'm sure she would have become angry and left and then not spoken to me for however long. Maybe I made a mistake years ago not setting boundaries with her. I was always afraid to do so. I have walked on eggshells with her since she was 18 years old. Now, she has not spoken to me since July. She returned the Christmas gifts that I sent to my granddaughters. I have given up. She has no appreciation for all the things I have done for her and given her. I miss my granddaughters so much and I am afraid about what their future holds.
