I am glad I found this site. we have had intermittent episodes for years, but has really worsened since her divorce 10 years ago. This past year has been especially difficult and heartbreaking since a mental health crisis after she was asked to resign her job. There has also been a very rocky and drama-filled second marriage. I have practically co-parented her two sons, 16 and 14 for the last 10 years. Now that they are able to mostly take care of themselves, I am no longer needed, so there has been very little contact lately. it's heartbreaking for me, but I know adolescents aren't very keen about being with any adults, much less old ones. my husband and I have been married 50 years and we are both 72. reading how so many others are facing similar problems, helps me to put things in perspective and I will keep reading your posts and hope I can help with any insights I have. many mothers are in this situation and by sharing with each other, maybe we can all get stronger and wiser and better able to cope. this is my first post and I don't understand all the symbols and initials, but I'll learn.

Hello Hardy Tollroad and welcome to the family

I'm glad you found us and sorry for what you've been through and are dealing with.  As you say being here and reading, learning and sharing with others helps in so many ways. I have great admiration for the amazing grandparents here who parent, co-parent like you do in difficult and rocky circumstances.  Sending you a big hug   missing your grandson's is heart breaking, for them to know they are loved and you are there for them as they navigate the journey to adulthood is a great  gift. I hope you get to see them soon.

How is your daughter, is she receiving any treatment? While you say likely BPD has she received any diagnosis through the latest crisis? There are great resources on the site - have you seen the tools and lessons to the right of your screen?

Look forward to hearing from you.

PS There is a glossary and abbreviations key towards the bottom of the list to the right of your screen.
