Helping Partner with BPD

My Partner was Diagnosed with BPD October 2016
Currently in Respite for a Week
I just feel that there is a Lack of instruction and support for the other half of the person suffering with Borderline Personality Disorder
At the end of the day I just want to support and try to understand what my other Half and other people are going through with BPD
I want to be educated as to what I need to be doing and saying in order to help my partner
Up to now it has fallen on me to research myself on the internet to try and find answers
Hence I stumbled on BPD Family

Hi turner19,
You posted to the co-parenting board. Do you have children who may also be struggling? We have a lot of resources which can help (in the right margin and at the top of the board).
We'd love to hear more of your story and how best we can help. There are communication tools in lesson 3 on the lessons at the top of the Improving Board which can help reduce conflict.
What would you say are your most significant struggles now?

Hi turner19.
Also extending a welcome, and letting you know it's really admirable that you are trying to learn how to get support for yourself and also how to help your partner. You may also want to look into whether or not your city or town has a local NAMI office. The local NAMI office in my city was really helpful in providing a place to talk, and offered classes for families living with a person with mental illness. I met other spouses and parents with pwBPD in their lives. They were very hands on to describe the stages to learning a loved one has an illness and how we can be kind to ourselves while supporting our family.
Please do post more about your situation. It can seem like a lot, like the bottom of your world is falling out. But there are a whole lot of caring, good people who can help and understand.
