Did anyone ever wonder....my pwBPD practically raised my granddaughter (her niece) when she cut off ties with the majority of our family, she also cut ties with her (she is 9 years old) and her sisters, who she was SOOO close to (I just thought of this because I came across some pictures) I wonder how ONE can NOT miss those people; IF she has issues with me, so be it, I feel like it is such a waste of time, sadly, the kids hardly ask about her anymore; same with her sister; they were so close, it is on my mind...

Our objective is to better understand the struggles our child faces and to learn the skills to improve our relationship and provide a supportive environment and also improve on our own emotional responses, attitudes and effectiveness as a family leaders

Ah photos are such triggers for pondering! They certainly get my mind going - and heart aching!

It is so hard to understand BPD - it is so complex. We look back at the time when we seemed to know the person - and now it is all so different.

When I catch myself thinking my DD should be able to understand, I remind myself that her mind functions differently and her emotions are not restrained by reason or logic. Hence the chaos of her life that challenges me every day.

It's a long, hard journey of love . . .

Oh, Sancho!  You are spot on!  Personally, graduation, prom, etc. season is "rough" (well...other than regular work days, most things are!) I came across a picture from my pwBPD's high school graduation, she was hugging me & beaming!  Your words help me!  I have battled clinical depression; I believe my statement:  you never know what another person is going through...it is such a BEAST of a disease!  Thank you for your thoughtfulness!
