Any experience with Clearview, Hill Center or Columbia Day Programs?

My 19D is a college student with BPD, eating disorder and depression. She is going to withdraw from the spring semester due to her multiple difficulties. We are looking at residential and intensive outpatient programs for her that accept health insurance and so far we have come up with Clearview women's center in LA, Hill Center at Mclean Hospital and Columbia University College Student program.
If anyone has any other recommendations in the Southern California or Northeastern areas of the US we would love to hear about them.
Thanks and glad I found this forum!

Hello dubiousraves and welcome to bpdfamily parents forum.
I'm sorry why you are here and glad your 19D is taking time out to gain treatment. My 28DD (same diagnosis) has attended outpatients DBT for 9 months and has taken a break from work since Xmas to concentrate on recovery, good move.
I'm in the UK so unable to offer personal recommendations, hopefully others may have further suggestions.
We are glad you found us, you are not alone, - how are you coping, do you have support from family and friends?

Hi! We are in the same boat--19D, with recent BPD diagnosis following suicide attempt #2... .also dropping out of current college semester and we are desperately looking for the right DBT-based RTC... .Clearview is at the top of the list, as is McLean's 3East program (long waiting list right now). I have looked into both the Hill Center and the Columbia program, but she really needs inpatient care right now.
We also looked into LifeSkills of South Florida and the Insight Behavioral Mood and Anxiety program (MAP) in downtown Chicago.
We basically have one shot, financially, to get her some treatment--so we are hoping to be successful in picking an effective program.
I can empathize so much with your situation... .be in touch privately if you want!

Hi! I don't know if you have already found a program or not. On the off chance that you haven't I would recommend Wellspring in Bethlehem Ct. I have not personally been there or know of anyone directly, though after talking extensively to admissions and looking at reviews and it being recommended by a program director in MA, Wellspring, at this point in time would be my first choice. I do know four young women who went to Clearview (including my daughter) and I feel that they tend to discharge or move on clients much quicker than what the person needs. I, also, checked out Life Skills in Florida, my daughter was going to go and at the last minute changed her mind. I just looked online about it again and notice that they have some less than favorable reviews. My daughter also went to Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, CT. Their DBT program is a month long, and I would suggest another place after that. My daughter and another girl who went to Silver Hill felt that there was a lot of 'down time'. My daughter also went to McLean 3 East in 2009 and I must say that she and I felt that it was first rate, though I do understand that there is quite a wait at this point in time.
It really is a tough decision, I HIGHLY recommend checking out which ever place you are serious about. What is said on a website and what the admissions tell you may be very different than the feel you get when you go to a place in person. The one place that I would really stay away from is Rose Hill in Michigan. I could tell you horrific tales of that place, though this is not the forum to do so.
So my main recommendation would be Wellspring. Best of everything to you! Keep us posted!
