Hi Mini28
You asked about family support. I'm pretty new to all of this too (son26 diagnosed in January), and I've just started exploring NEA BPD (National Education Allliance for BPD). Have you seen their site?
www.borderlinepersonalitydisorder.com/
The Family Connections Program looks very interesting (I assume people on this message board will be familiar with the program -- any comments?), and there is even a telecommunication version of the program if you aren't within reach of a group.
There are tons of resources at NEABPD, including some great educational videos; likewise bpdfamily. We gotta keep looking everywhere.
Thanks Everybody; Have a quiet day... .

The NEA-BPD site and the Family Connections program are excellent. We feature some of the videos here and we have a collaborated with the NEA-BPD on some projects.

Wow, how exciting, well done for finding the workshop, is it nearby you, what is the focus, who is hosting?
Sounds like you are making great progress communicating with your son and using the tools as they fit the moment in time. I relate to what you are going through my DD hit her pit 2 years ago. 'quiet' was and still is important today, space to recognise my love, acceptance, hope and reassurance, that she was not the burden she felt. Small gentle steps worked for me. Thinking of you and reach out for support, we are here for you

WendyD, I appreciate your validation of the quiet, and your recognition of the progress (hope hope).
The workshop is NEA-BPD's "Family Connections Weekend Intensive" in New Canaan, CT (close enough for me!), on May 6,7. Gee, I was just looking at this on their site and now, interestingly, I see there's ALSO a thing at Yale on Friday 5/5 for professionals + consumers & families:
13th Annual Yale NEA-BPD Conference - Prevention and Early Intervention for BPD - May 5, 2017 New Haven, CT
Have a lovely Sunday afternoon everybody. Good and
quiet
here today.
Peace,
