Hi again everyone!

I need more advise please!

My SS has been seeing a therapist, he's ADD with some ODD and is medicated with Concerta.  He also suffers anxiety and depression.  He has a very negative outlook and feels hopeless most days.

SS has had several anxiety attacks over the last few weeks and he's really battling to cope.  The therapist has recommended that he goes on to anti-depressants in order to try and get a handle on things before SS back-slides too much.

uBPD mom refuses to allow SS to take anti-depressants, because "They never worked for me".  SS lives with us, but is very open with uBPD mom and I can't expect him to lie to her... .and when he visits her, she inspects his bags and will find the meds anyway.

We've tried to speak logically with her... .we ain't getting anywhere!

Anyone have any ideas on what to do now?

Hi StepMom2Matt,

He sounds like he's in a lot of pain and at risk for things getting worse

What are some of the logical approaches you've tried with her?

Hi LnL,

Therapist is going to call uBPDM and explain that he needs seratonin... .come at it from that angle rather than the dreaded "Anti-Depressant" angle.  We got his meds and he started them today... .we have to hope that uBPDM accepts the meds or just leaves it alone.  Wish us luck!

Yes, SS is in a lot of pain... .and is realising for the first time how messed up his mum's behaviour is.  It's very sad - but we're hopeful that with therapy, his meds and loads of validation he'll pull through!

Thanks.
