Dear one scared mom,
Welcome! It is all very very difficult. Funny I've found you asking about local in-person support, because I'm having the same feeling this morning. I discovered that there are Meet-ups in my vicinity. My metropolis also has a good mood disorder support group, not sponsored by any org in particular, so I think it's unique to my locale. You can also look around on the NAMI website.
Stop Walking on Eggshells is great. Randi Kreger's Essential Family Guide to Borderline Personality Disorder is the one I have loaded with post-its. My current favorite is Valerie Porr's Overcoming Borderline Personality Disorder, A Family Guide for Healing and Change, which I am finding super comprehensive, practical, and compassionate.
Sounds like you will keep reading and keep seeking resources. Have you discovered
www.borderlinepersonalitydisorder.com/family-connections/ ? They offer a 12-week course for families (I haven't taken it yet but have heard it's good; I'm on the waiting list). It is also offered online (scroll down at the link).
This forum is tremendously helpful, supportive, validating. I keep poking around in the different threads and keep finding so many relevant experiences, great tips, and love.
Yours,
MamaD
