Hello everyone, I am new here. The reason I have seeked out this site is because I have a sister and mother who have borderline personality disorder.  My sister also has been diagnosed with cancer so it has been very trying time for me as a care taker and family member. It has been very difficult  for me growing up and even now as an adult in my 40s, I’m still trying to learn how to have a relationship with them without getting sucked into all the drama and abuse. I do not want to feel isolated any longer and need a community of people who really understand this disorder. Anyhow, thank you for giving me the space to share.

Welcome Adventurer1

It's great that you've come to join us at our online family. I'm so glad that you've reached out to us so that you no longer feel alone in your struggles with having family members who have BPD. I'm only a little bit older than you, so I understand the fatigue, be it emotional or physical, in dealing with those who have BPD. My mom had uBPD.

How long have you recognized that your S and M have behaviors that cause you great concern as you learn to deal with them? Do they live near you?

Please be sure and take a look at the list on the right hand side of our board. ----->> >> There is a lot of helpful information which comes up in another window when you click on any topic. Let me encourage you to take time to read and post a response to others and share about your struggles. This is a great place to learn and grow, not only from the information we offer, but also from the experiences others share.

Here is a link that offers some help in learning how to listen effectively, and these skills help not only with a pwBPD, but also in everyday interactions with others:

Empathetic Listening and Active Listening

Looking forward to hearing more from you!  Doing the right thing (click to insert in post)
