My daughter is being released from residential after 2 mths. I was told she was med resistant and bc she was not cooperating with the dbt therapy there was nothing else they could do. I feel like this is a death sentence bc she said she was going to make sure she succeeded this time w her suicide. Plus ,we are no better off than when she first left. Feeling very hopeless but refuse to give up.

Hi Lantz,

My heart goes out to you  and I'm so sorry for what brings you here.

Is your daughter living with you?

Did the residential center provide any family support?

When your daughter said she was going to make sure she succeeded this time with her suicide, that must have been utterly and completely painful for you to hear. How do you respond when she says something like that?

Glad you are here sharing your story. We are here to walk with you.

You are not alone.

My teen D was also dx BPD, anxiety, depression. She was in residential for 8 months and we have had our share of ups/downs so I can relate.

I like your determination... .can't give up!  We as parents need to advocate for our kids.

I personally would refuse her discharge until an alternative program is located and she can move straight to.

Do you have a CMO (Care Manager)?  Ours spearheaded our residential search and her services were invaluable.  Her services as well as the residential program were n/c from our state.

Let us know if we can help.

I need a boost of your determination ! Well done you !

I can relate to your situation as I too have a daughter with BPD, anxiety etc who hasn't responded to therapy. She has spent the last 5 years in and out of hospital and has been told there is nothing more that can be done! I find it shocking that human beings are left to suffer in this way !

Keep up your strength and keep fighting for your daughter, don't be intimidated by the professionals as no-one knows your daughter better than you, I refuse to give up too x
