Yes we did the two day intensive training in New York. It was a great experience being in a group with other parents, hearing their stories and learning together. It really made a difference the trainers were parents of BPDers themselves.

Our first module starts in 20 mins... .I've printed out the materials and I'm ready and waiting to call in.  I'll let you know how it goes. Its a 12 week course;every Sunday for the next 12 weeks , for 1.5 hours.  I did think about not doing it, particularly as we seem to have been through the worst and are coming out the other side. But there is something telling me you just never can tell, never assume, and I want to feel prepared for any downward turns that life will bring for her and to us.   I still want to effectively address my DD's marijuana use too through good communication skills  . Even though the marijuna  helps her, I'd love for her to eventually not need it.

Hi Felicia , family connections ( the link above posted by WendyD) offers training specifically for family members of a loved one with BPD . It’s delivered by family members who also have loved ones with BPD . They offer a two day intensive training course but I’ve never been close enough to attend so I signed up for the alternative 12 week teleconference course instead .

First conference call was last night and just hearing the voices of other family members who know exactly what you’re going through is such a relief . The first couple of sessions are pretty much background sessions , getting to know each other and sharing our  stories , intro  to mindfulness , run down of BPD and understanding the condition ,  then in session 3 we start looking at specific skills . Self care has already been a main focus too and will continue to be throughout the course .

Looking forward to what you learn... .it would be great if you could journal your session notes here for others to learn from.

I would love read them.
