trying to support and not get sucked in

My partner's adult child (in her 30's) is causing serious difficulties. She is becoming increasingly jealous, and starting to manipulate her sibling to isolate me. My partner and I have been together for a decade, but things are becoming increasingly difficult, impacting on my partner's MH and my own.
Anyone been in a similar situation?

Hi
bamboozld
Welcome to our online community, I'm very glad you've joined us for support and sorry to hear things have become increasingly difficult with your partners adult child's behaviour and the impact it's having on your partners MH and your own, is concerning. Things can certainly improve with support, self care and maybe a change of approach.
Can you share a little more with us, to help us know how we can best support you. You say she's manipulating her sibling to isolate you, she's increasing jealous. How is her relationship with her father? Is she independent, working, has friends... .Has she received any prior diagnosis'?

Hi bamboozld
Im sorry to hear what you are going througth. This is very challenging for all parties involved.
Does your step daughter live at home with you?
Id be interested to know if there was something you can recognise that triggered her?
There is a wealth of information to the right that you will find useful and engaging here with other parents who are facing similar issues will be invaluable.
For me, my DD27 was diagnosed three years ago with BPD and manipulation is an inherent complication of this disorder. I came her 8 months ago and Ive been learning how to step back to not give those behaviours any credence.
I look forward to hearing from you.

I can totally relate to having my mental health affected by my BPD daughter. You are not alone.
