It has been a while since I have posted on this board. I was able to meet with a DV advocate again, and she has offered to set up an appointment with an attorney she knows and be present for the meeting. The meeting is in regard to verbal abuse and H's behavior toward S3. My understanding originally was that the meeting would be informal and identities kept private. She has since asked for my name and H's name to check for conflicts with the attorney's office. I am afraid to give it to her, but also need the legal advice. H is known pretty well in the community and I need to be sure identities are kept private until I am ready to take the next step. Does anyone know if law offices and advocates ever leak this information out? Thank you for your help.
I can't imagine a reputable, ethical law office or DV advocate leaking that information.
I do know, however, that it is standard practice of a law office to get your name and that of your spouse. They have to check for conflicts.
For example, I wanted to see a lawyer, but when they ran a conflict check, it showed my STBX had contacted them.
