My wife is trying to get me institutionalized. I have a daughter and I am concerned for her safety. Any advice?

There's the old story about the instructions given before an airline flight takes off. "
In the event of an emergency, put on your own oxygen mask first before helping others
." Why? If you collapse due to lack of oxygen then you can't help anyone. The lesson for us is we have to protect ourselves and our safety so that we can then help others such as our children and other loved ones. Yes, you're concerned for your child, but start by ensuring your own ability to be there for your child.
So, recognizing that necessity, do you have a lawyer capable of defending you in mental health matters and/or a counselor? An experienced lawyer can make sure the legal steps are followed and help you avoid being railroaded. Your counselor can step forward as a professional and document to the ones investigating or assessing that you don't need to be institutionalized.
People with BPD (pwBPD) will try to maneuver themselves as the sane one and posture as the victim. They'll claim you're the problem person, the crazy one. Sadly, they're generally adept at being so emotionally convincing that people will believe their
claims
as virtual
facts
.
You must be very careful not to lose your cool and lend credibility to her claims. Be very concerned but stay calm. No screaming or yelling. (She is likely to try to entrap you into losing your temper and then using that to make her claims more credible.)
Please give us some more details so we can determine what sort of peer support and strategies would be most helpful.

It is incredible how convincing they can be. Some will eventually see the light but you really have to get used to being considered the bad guy. And it doesn't matter what they do, they'll always blame you. I
