I just need to write this down. Share how I’m feeling.

I’m scheduled to go into settlement early this coming week.

My STBX and STBX-FIL didn’t cooperate by turning over discovery. My L is moving forward without their info and using our info. Says if they don’t provide info we are free to do so.

I feel worried. Scared.

I’ve never been to settlement before. I don’t know what to expect.

I read the settlement position my L wrote. It contained info I already knew about with the exception of a budget figure an alternative budget that is about 50% of what I initially requested and about 70% of the budget I’d discussed with the financial analyst.

I know what I need to do as soon as I write this down. I need to get a copy of that budget.

Did your L tell you how that alternative budget was derived?

Not yet. I emailed her last night around 10:30 and haven't heard back yet.

Yes, you need to know the logic behind it. England them an immediate fallback position?

Darn autocorrect...I meant, "why give them an immediate fall-back position?

LOL. I agree. No reason to give them a fallback. I have an email into her. She's good about getting back to me.

Please ask this question explicitly.

Since they didn't provide information, why didn't our number go up.  It appears you are negotiating against yourselves.  What is the downside for them in stonewalling?

Best,
