Adult child living at home driving me nuts

25 y.o. daughter dealing with issues since third grade. Lives at home with both parents, able to hold part-time job, but kicked out of college for inability to let go of teacher's support once class ended. She tried to turn it into a "peer" type relationship. Years of inappropriate relationships, lying, repetitive behaviors that have isolated peers and family. As parents we struggle with seeing her able to obtain self-sustaining status versus living with us through retirement.

Hello Loncgr. Welcome to the group. I am glad you found us. What you are going through with your daughter sounds awfully frustrating. Has she been diagnosed as having BPD? Does she see a therapist? There is a lot to learn about this condition. The good news is things can get better.

She has been dx by counselor and sees therapist, but therapist's experience may be limited with bpd.

Unfortunately many therapists don't understand BPD. There is a lot of inaccurate information out there. This condition is often unfairly stigmatized. The good news is you have come to the right place for clinically accurate information along with help and support
What is your main concern at this point? What do you want to learn about first?

She's able to hold a part-time job, which is not nothing.
And she's agreeing to see a counselor, from what it sounds like?
Does your D25 accept the BPD diagnosis?
How do her BPD symptoms manifest? Does she rage externally?
