Two of my three adult children are mentally ill. My daughter is in recovery (her last relapse was in February) she has a dual diagnosis of substance abuse and BPD/ Bipolar? We support her fully and one of her two children (from two different fathers). He is in a remedial school having suffered from a prem birth. At the time she never told us she was pregnant. Following a full year of rehab she relapsed after 18 months. Subsequently her meds have changed and she is more stable.
During the traumatic incidents that led to us sectioning her and admitting her, her older brother who until that point had been relatively stable, had a breakdown. In the two years since he has gone through a divorce, is now incapable of working, was treated for depression, had a diagnosis of bipolar, recovered from meningitis following sinus surgery and now after a 4th opinion from a psychiatrist has been diagnosed BPD

Welcome, you are in the right place and are here for you.  Are your adult children living with you at this time? More importantly , please realize you are allowed to take care of yourself- as a matter of fact, you are obliged to.  Please write more as you are able.  I am sorry for your children's illnesses, and good on you for taking care of your grandchild.  You need some left over for you , though .
