Tortured parents witnessing our wonderful son who suffers from the intense pain of BPD. Few years ago it was only suggested he might have some but told he’s more just a complicated, passionate, emotional kid. He was having rage outbursts etc. he now suffers w inventory crisis related to his age, not knowing what to do - isolation as his friends are all in college. He just impulsive quit his job. Looking for external things and solutions to make himself feel better. We are always sick to our stomachs knowing and sensing how much pain he is in. And he also tells us this after a rage pulling on his hair and finally breaking down in tears. Have such comparisons and yet also frustration and even sometimes resentment as we have 3 other teens who need our attention/support/guidance. Just starting to find more information for parents. He agreed to go back and see his therapist although he says he doesn’t help. I do anticipate he won’t go and are finally coming to accept that there’s nothing we can do about it. Very hard because we are so enmeshed with him. Trying to find a balance. Know now he has to get and do help work himself. So
Crushing to see him suffer this way. And as you all know he could be totally different this afternoon and then bam - we are whole house is walking on eggshells.

Welcome Batman
We are glad you found us. You are not alone. There are a couple of positives here in that he recognizes he needs help and agrees to see a therapist. Secondly, you recognize that you need help in coping. May I ask if you are in therapy as well for support? Please write back as you are able.

thank you. He has appointment this week but may likely not go - my husband and I are in therapy and now getting more specialized support for parents of BPD.

Holy BPD
Batman
!
That's tough! Seriously I do feel for you. My son is the same way. It is painful to see someone you love hurting so much. The good news is you are in the right place to get reliable information and support that can help you help your child. Welcome to the group. How old is your son? What kind of job did he have? What is your biggest concern at this point?
Hugs
Faith
