Have you all experienced becoming hopeful (cautiously optimistic), and then been disheartened when the vortex seems to have sucked your child back in? I have a feeling that my question is rhetorical!

Dd had a couple days that seemed like she was crawling out of the dark hole of rumination. She was talking more realistically and had some hope. Then today Thanksgiving she started to slide. I think I’m learning to accept the big fluctuations better, but definitely have a ways to go.

Bless all of you and your precious sons and daughters!

Only every day. This totally is a roller coaster ride. There is nothing smooth about it. That is why it is so important to develop our own sense of balance so we can stay centered in the midst of the whirlwind. Is there something in particular that prompts your question?

Thanks Faith!   I wrote a much longer reply but I must have accidentally hit the wrong button!  Suffice it to say, not a good evening. I need to find a therapist who understands this condition and know how to coach me so I can deal better with dd. I feel like I almost lost my mind. Yuck

Finding a therapist is a great idea particularly if they understand the trauma of having a BPD child and yes it is a trauma so be gentle with yourself. Do you see heads nodding all around the room? You are not alone.
