Adult Child - Is she high functioning?

Hi,
My daughter is almost 30, she was diagnosed with Bipolar just before college.  For the last 2 years she has exhibited almost all of the symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder.  I'm trying to understand how well she can take care of herself.  What responsibilities is she capable of handling?  Two years ago she had a job for 4 years, now she's bouncing around and has decided to work part time even though she can't afford it.  And I think she see's me as her backup plan if she runs out of money.

She is on medications and seeking a new psych because of new insurance policy, which I'm paying or while she's working part time. 
Is there anything in BP which impairs one's ability to work, handle responsibilities? Is it mostly about interpersonal relationships or are there other impairments?

There's a wonderful memoir called Buddha and the Borderline about a woman's struggle with BPD and how it affects her ability to work. It might help shine light on what the struggles are that your D30 has and how it impacts her.

SD23 started her first year as a special ed teacher and she has missed multiple days due to GI issues, headaches, dizziness. My sense is that the extreme management of her extreme emotions is exhausting, and her anxiety is unrelenting and excessive. So she can do her job but there is a price and she falls apart when she's away from the classroom and by herself.

First year teaching is tough for anyone. For SD23, it appears to be doubly so.

How do you feel about D30 seeing you as a back up plan if she runs out of money? Does she know how you feel and is there a history of returning home?
