Helloo everyone  Welcome new member (click to insert in post)
I have not posted in way too long, I used to be very much a regular here and received so much help and support from this group. My daughter was diagnosed with BPD when she was 15 and she put us through the absolute ringer. Just look through my old posts! We were living in a complete and utter nightmare.
My daughter is 20 now. She turned the corner when she was 17 and a half and has continued to make strides back towards “normality” Smiling (click to insert in post)  She still lives at home, hasn’t decided on whether she’ll ever want to go to college but for now she works full time as a server , , has a steady, very nice boyfriend, she hasn’t self harmed in nearly 3 years and she recently got a tattoo to cover up some of the bad scars on her arm. She’s planning on more Smiling (click to insert in post) she wrote me some letters a couple of years ago for Christmas, apologizing for things  she put me through as her mum when she was at her worst  and I still read those letters every now and again
. There is hope guys! For all those parents who are going through it right now, I wanted you to know your babies are still in there. You can be in that deepest darkest hole with them and think life will never get better, but it can!
She still has her own struggles ( mainly being very highly strung with a low stress tolerance)   and deals with this anxiety  in a way that I’d prefer she didn’t ( marijuana ), but this is her only vice now and given the horrors of her previous behaviors and all that came  with those very poor choices and risks to her safety, I’ve accepted she needs her marijuana. Believe me, the path she was heading down when she was 15 was so horrifying and devastating, the marijuana is a piece of cake!

So how is everyone ? How are you blue? WD? Lollipop and I keep up on Facebook Smiling (click to insert in post)

Our objective is to better understand the struggles our child faces and to learn the skills to improve our relationship and provide a supportive environment and also improve on our own emotional responses, attitudes and effectiveness as a family leaders

Hi Yepanotherone   Welcome new member (click to insert in post) Welcome new member (click to insert in post) Welcome new member (click to insert in post)
I am also a returning member who hasn't been here for a longgg time. I'm sad to say I don't recall you but I am very glad to hear a positive story of your daughter having success in so many ways and improving. It must be very relieving and heartwarming for you - especially her becoming aware of how her behaviour impacted you and taking responsibility for herself. And what a great thing to do to apologise for some of her past behaviours. Way to go! (click to insert in post)

I hear so little of people who've recovered that it can get quite disheartening so that is very uplifting to me. Hooray! Way to go! (click to insert in post)

This is a much-needed note from you!
Do you mind sharing what type of treatment she did that you think was most helpful?

Yep,
So glad to hear about the positive progress!  Do you mind sharing some of the things that have helped?  Therapy? Groups? Medications?
Thanks!

Yep  Way to go! (click to insert in post) it's a wee while since you posted. I've been 'Covid-out' and now placing my best foot forward  Smiling (click to insert in post) Man, it's so good to hear DD is doing what's right for her right now. I think when our girls have been through the burn as they have a quiet and gentle time is what they need, to have the space to just be and grow at their pace.

Yes there is hope, from another Mum whose girl has turned it around, hang in there and know you are doing your very best with what you know right now.
