Step parenting; mood swings, ongoing boredom, profligate spending

My step daughter seem to struggle with mood swings, ongoing boredom, profligate spending. I want to develop a relationship with her but don't want to give up my own self and my values.

How old is your stepdaughter? How much time does she spend with you and your husband? Do you think she shows BPD traits?
