please help  me figure out what all the dd, dh, etc mean... where can I find the meanings?  thanks!

But the ones you mentioned, the first "D" means "Dear", the 2nd "D"= "daughter", "H"= "husband".

Dd - dear daughter
Dh - dear husband, or, if you're feeling particularly uncharitable, it could have another meaning
