Hi Everyone,
I’m new here. My daughter in law has BPD and I am now alienated from my son and my grandchildren bc I went against her. My son is totally co dependent and brainwashed. I’m so afraid of not seeing my grandkids. Don’t know what to do. I’m so depressed.

So Hurt,
I am so sorry you are going through this. I have just realized this is likely my reality as well and I don't know much about what to expect but I do understand the heartbreak. Sending you hugs.

Hi Ripley. I am so sorry you are in this situation.
Can you tell us a bit more about what happened that caused this? Mind you, not much needs to happen for a BPD person to shut the door on someone. Is it possible that with a bit of time passing things might improve?
I know it is unbearable pain to be cut off from your loved son and loved grandchildren. I am hoping there is a thread of possibility that things might get better.
I do hope so. Sending hugs . . . . .

Hello Ripley,
The pain is so deep, I know, as our adult uBPD son has cut us off for several months. Our hearts go out to you.
What support system do you have around you? This might be a support group or a group of friends...or a local NAMI support group. Our church had a support group for family members who were affected by caring for loved ones with mental health issues. We found it to be helpful for bearing the burden...finding understanding friends, etc.
