Hello, My wife has BPD and NPD. I have been dealing with it the best I can for 21 years. She has rages and other abusive behaviors. We Paragraph header  (click to insert in post) have been on the roller coaster too long. I need legal advice for options as a safety net for when it will get out of control the next time. I need to have some plans for myself, my adult daughter, and mother in law to understand our rights and what the process will be. We live in Harris County, Houston, Texas. Take care, Dadswork

Can you tell us more about the behaviors during her rages? Does she destroy property, become physically violent, threaten suicide?

Various paths are appropriate, depending on her actions.

Has she ever been inpatient due to an episode?

Have the police ever been called?

Is anyone in the family in therapy?

Is your wife in therapy or on medication?

Your legal options depend on what you're trying to achieve and what you can prove.

Your want out (divorce) or something else?

Hey Dadswork, I saw your other thread on the "Tools" board and replied to it there. I'll post that link for you:

https://bpdfamily.com/message_board/index.php?topic=351785.0

and also the link to the NEA-BPD "Family Connections" program, which is designed for people like you, who want to learn to cope with a family member who has BPD:

https://www.borderlinepersonalitydisorder.org/family-connections/

Hope that helps;
