For a year now our 16 yo has been in crisis mode. She was just diagnosed with BPD and can't commit to her home or school safety plan. Individual therapy, hospitalizations, PHP, and IOP, and in home clinicians are not enough. We are faced having to consider residential in order to keep her safe and alive. What are families in CO doing since the state has a shortage, is moving away from, and there are long waiting lists for these adolescents? Thanks in advance.

Our objective is to better understand the struggles our child faces and to learn the skills to improve our relationship and provide a supportive environment and also improve on our own emotional responses, attitudes and effectiveness as a family leaders

First, welcome  I am glad you found us, but of course sorry about the circumstances that led you to seek us out. I do not have any answers for you right now, but I am going to tag my team in here and you should see some support come through.

I wish I had answers for you. We are facing the same lack of funding issues in NC. Did any of the mental health professionals suggest your options while you wait for something to open up? What does her safety plan consist of?

Take care of yourself and know that we are here. BPD is draining.
