Young adult child with BPD, which is basically complex PTSD. being a dedicated and engaged mother of a daughter with cPTSD which now manifests as BPD is a journey in unpacking generations of trauma.

To overcome the infuriating moments that trigger MY cPTSD, I look at photos of our good times and we talk about them together when storms have passed.

I am writing children’s picture books that families can read together to establish good times. I am making a board game that has skills i learned in trauma therapy for families with kids as young as 4 years old to have as a resource.

As frustrating as children can be, they are a gift to build our character and to reach out to get help coping.

i share all this healthy optimism because a holiday meal with several generations of people who gave me cPTSD was survived without incident.

I crushed easter dinner with my numb, abusive family. And I did not pay the abuse forward o to my adult child. she was triggered, and it was annoying, but I knew I had resources to reach out to to get refueled so i didn’t take things out sideways on her.

Our objective is to better understand the struggles our child faces and to learn the skills to improve our relationship and provide a supportive environment and also improve on our own emotional responses, attitudes and effectiveness as a family leaders

Good to hear from you again, Really now.

What an incredible feat to reflect on. You can look at how you navigated that dinner and say, I stopped the cycle. It ended with me.

That brings a lot of hope.
