Hi everybody.. I am Char and I have struggled over 50 years since adolescence with BPD. However, it was just today I was finally officially diagnosed, although my initial (unofficial) diagnosis was realized by myself six days ago,  which was six days prior to seeing my psychiatrist today. It's a long story but he accepted and respected my explanation as to why I came to this realization. And I accepted his reasons as to why he and his psychiatric team weren't able to diagnose me accurately all those fifteen years ago. Basically, the reasons was that at the onset,  I had presented with MDD because all they saw was my severe clinical depression. I did not share with them all these other issues because it didn't occur to me that there was a connection so I was just crying all the time. Anyway, sorry y'all, I am absolutely emotionally and physically exhausted after this very upsetting week since I discovered BPD was the deeper disorder all along. Everything suddenly made sense, fifty years of my life absolutely wasted. But nevertheless, something positive and productive came from today's meeting. He was able to immediately enroll me into a local BPD group therapy which has already started up but he managed to get me into it. I I think I'm daring to hope.

Thanks for writing in and good for you being aware and seeking help.

This site is for family members and relationship partners of BPD sufferers. This is where we learn to support our loved ones, and where we learn to take care of ourselves. Because of this, we do not have the resources to help individuals with BPD, but I encourage you to check out Resources for BPD Sufferers. https://bpdfamily.com/message_board/Themes/default/welcome3.html

You will find links to more appropriate forums, where you will find others like yourself who were brave enough to have taken positive steps towards healing.

I wish you all the best in your healing process.
