My grandmother has BPD. When this was discovered, my mother went through such a range of emotions - she felt like so many things finally made sense. She read books, did research, etc. Oddly enough my grandmother had a series of strokes that completely altered her behavior and she is now a wonderfully pleasant woman. I had sworn I would never speak to her again but 5 years later, I call her every few weeks to chat. I don't suggest this is a form of treatment though!
My mother has always been "difficult" but it has not been until the last year that I truly feel she has BPD. Obviously, I cannot diagnose her, but many MANY of the symptoms are there. In the past, I thought some of the things she did was more of a learned behavior from her mother but now she is acting in ways that are beyond that.
I too feel that I have some of the symptoms but I also feel that they are "learned behaviors". I hope that with awareness and therapy I will cope and not spread this to my kids.
I decided to come to the board for advice and will start a thread concerning that. I'm glad to have found this place.

Hello Mcdoogle
Welcome. I, too, am new to the world of BPD. But this is a great place for information and support. I honestly don't know much yet myself about BPD but I am learning
I would recommend reading some posts and getting a feel for what others have gone thru or are currently going thru. I have a step daughter who is 9 and we believe she has BPD so I hang out on the thread about Supporting sons and daughters with BPD. Maybe you can find a thread that will help you too? I think there is one that deals with friends and families with BPD? Just a suggestion.
I am so glad you are here
hope you find what you are looking for.
