James Blount wrote this about a woman that suffered from a personality disorder. I never saw exactly what it was, but I remember him talking about it. Someone in the comments says schizophrenia, but I'm not sure if that's it.

I'm sure that there are many of us that can relate to this song, and if you look closely, you can see the emotion overwhelm him.

As a songwriter myself, I think that this is one of the most powerful songs that I have ever heard... .

So sad. :'(

The pain in his voice is intense, especially when he says to remember him... .

Thanks for posting this song .

It is a great song but I would not suggest for exgfBPD to listen to it as she will boost her ego nothing more .

The lyrics of this song is dedicated to a BPD ex as you suggested ,a non would appreciate these beautiful words that we all feel but not a BPD .My opinion .

Dream girl... .I wonder why so many say it was their dream girl ?

The dream girl is the total opposite isn't it ?

I wasn't suggesting that it be played for one. I was saying that it's a powerful song ABOUT saying goodbye. It just seems to encompass all that we feel about letting go... .

Did I disappoint you or let you down?

Should I be feeling guilty or let the judges frown?

'Cause I saw the end before we'd begun,

Yes I saw you were blinded and I knew I had won.

So I took what's mine by eternal right.

Took your soul out into the night.

It may be over but it won't stop there,

I am here for you if you'd only care.

You touched my heart you touched my soul.

You changed my life and all my goals.

And love is blind and that I knew when,

My heart was blinded by you.

I've kissed your lips and held your hand.

Shared your dreams and shared your bed.

I know you well, I know your smell.

I've been addicted to you.

'Cause I saw the end before we'd begun, I told her early on that I was destined to love her and destined to lose her

Yes I saw you were blinded and I knew I had won.

So I took what's mine by eternal right.

Took your soul out into the night.

It may be over but it won't stop there,

I am here for you if you'd only care. it's all that we ever ask of them

You touched my heart you touched my soul.

You changed my life and all my goals.

And love is blind and that I knew when,

My heart was blinded by you.

I've kissed your lips and held your hand.

Shared your dreams and shared your bed.

It actually did sadden her when I told her that I was destined to love her and destined to lose her. It was right after I found out about her BPD... .

yeah, everyone here has the same or similar story, unfortunately... .

I am a dreamer and when I wake,

You can't break my spirit - it's my dreams you take.

And as you move on, remember me,

Remember us and all we used to be

regarding this part of the song:

Did I disappoint you or let you down?

Should I be feeling guilty or let the judges frown?

... .after one and a half year of our freaky relationship, with all those cheating with numerous people, she is mad at me at the end... .  i sent a mail last week, she is so cold, hurt, sad... .tone of her messages said it all... .i'm the one who is guilty for our crash... .i cannot believe it... Laugh out loud (click to insert in post)

"Like A Friend"

Don't bother saying you're sorry / Why don't you come in

Smoke all my cigarettes again / Every time I get no further

How long has it been? / Come on in now, wipe your feet on my dreams

You take up my time / Like some cheap magazine

When I could have been learning something

Oh well, you know what I mean, oh / I've done this before

And I will do it again / Come on and kill me baby

While you smile like a friend / Oh and I'll come running

Just to do it again / You are the last drink I never should have drunk

You are the body hidden in the trunk / You are the habit I can't seem to kick

You are my secrets on the front page every week

You are the car I never should have bought

You are the dream I never should have caught

You are the cut that makes me hide my face

You are the party that makes me feel my age

Like a car crash I can see but I just can't avoid

Like a plane I've been told I never should board

Like a film that's so bad but I've got to stay till the end

Let me tell you now: it's lucky for you that we're friends
