Hi,

I'm new here and new to the idea that I have family members with BPD/N/and antisocial behaviors. Our family has a long history of coping with alcoholism, 12-step recovery, and al-anon.

Through some very big events this year, my family members are getting help and I've been made aware of what ails them above and beyond addiction.

I'm in al-anon and it seems to have a lot of good tools that apply to my relationship with my PD family members; however, I'm here looking for more help, guidance, and recommendations for dealing with PD specifically.

Thanks,

Kathy

Hi KathyD and welcome to bpdfamily

Dealing with disordered family-members can be quite challenging and addictions such as alcoholism only make matters worse. It's positive though that your family-members are now at least getting help. Have they been officially diagnosed as having a personality disorder? What kind of help are they getting?

I think it is great that you are reaching out for support here and are trying to learn more about how best to deal with your PD family-members. Are there any specific issues you would like to discuss or get advice on?

To help you get started here, I encourage you to take a look at the lessons and tools to the right of this message board and also at the feature articles you'll find at the top of this board.

Take care
