I am lost and confused. It's as if literally over-night my beautiful, loving, upbeat and out going daughter has become someone else. She is very angry, blaming, self harming and extremely difficult to talk to. I don't know how to talk to her anymore. She has raged at her father, we are divorced for almost 20 years, and her younger brother 24 years old. She is in a 5 day a week program in NYC. I live on the West Coast. I need some help in navigating this new life.

Hello Parker, welcome to bpdfamily. I believe you have come to the right place, as we are all here to help one another.

I'm really sorry that your are struggling with your daughters new diagnosis, and the trauma that comes with it.

You said she was in a 5 day a week program, can you tell us more about the program and her treatment? Also maybe you could tell us a little more about your daughter and what brought the diagnosis of BPD about. Does she suffer any other diagnosis to accompany the BPD? The more details we have, barring actual names and exact locations, the better able we are  to help you.

I also want to point to the right side of the board, you see family connections, Tools and Lessons, I highly recommend reading over this section, the tools are so helpful and the lessons too. I make a habit of habit practicing what I have read and learned on everybody, in the way that I communicate with them. It has helped me to get better at using the tools when communicating with my 31 year old daughter who has BPD.

Please keep us updated, the more we know the better able we are to help. Take care and I look forward to hearing more from you.
