I just signed up for this site, and after sign-up it suggested I make an introductory post (sorry if I'm posting this incorrectly somehow, or in the wrong place. If so, let me know and I'll do my best to fix it).

My mom almost definitely has BPD. She's undiagnosed, but the signs seem pretty clear. We haven't spoken in a while, but my grandpa isn't doing very well, and I know at some point I will need to attend his funeral, and she'll be there. That's one of the reasons I've been doing research: to understand best how to deal with that interaction when it's finally unavoidable.

The other reason I'm here is for personal healing and understanding what I grew up with. Some of the abuse I went through I have recognized and worked through somewhat, but some of it still feels new, like I remember something that happened and it occurs to me that it wasn't normal and was actually really hurtful.

I've been to therapy on and off for the last few years, and I'm in group therapy right now, which so far is pretty new but going well. I'd never seen the survivor's guide before today, but I'd guess I'm at about a 5 right now. I think I'm still really struggling with #6.

I'm reading through the site a lot right now, and finding a lot of really helpful stuff. I want to continue getting better and learning more about myself and my experience. I'd also love to be a part of the community and share things with others that might help them too.

So, hello! Thanks for reading!

Hello acousticindigo,

Welcome

I'm glad you reached our for support, and have found our resources helpful.

I'm sorry that your grandpa isn't doing well, and it's probably so much more stressful anticipating dealing with you mom. Do you have any other family members for support? How do your usual interactions with your mother go?
