I know people with BPD have intense fears about being alone . They usually will have backs ups, double lives, emotional and physical affairs, so I see and understand ... .There illness brings the fear whether imagined or real. So they impulsively act out,... Out of fear of being alone or abandoned . Physically. But I can't help but wonder if their constant fear about being alone is because they truly are alone emotionally! They can't share their real inner most fears or dreams... .They have to hide from everyone what they really are, who they really are and what they are doing. In society's eyes the things they do are very counter culture. It's known to be wrong by most societies standards . So they keep their dirty little lies to themselves until they are caught. So maybe  their real fear of abandonement comes from having to live a very isolated hidden life that causes them deep shame and self hatred that they take out on us because if they truly faced their self hate. Instead of just acting that self hate out by destroying their own life and the ones around them. They couldn't face it all. It is a complicated illness but truly fascinating in a sad and peculiar way , I think for me anyway. Not being able to be authentic and know who I am. I think I would feel

so lost and alone. I can't imagine hiding a whole life from everyone. I would feel alone everyday. Because I would be able to be myself, no wonder they don't know themselves. Their always faking. Lying manipulating . Living in the shadows like that and not in the Truth must feel isolating
