I just came across this personality: The Machiavellian Personality

My ex-husband, in addition to borderline, fits much of this. Roughly 15% of borderlines are antisocial and 15% are narcissists.

It is marked by deceit and manipulation. The person has a cynical outlook on humanity. They feel that if they can get away with something, then it is okay.

https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/machiavellians-gulling-the-rubes/201509/what-is-machiavellian

"They are temperamentally predisposed to be calculating, conniving, and deceptive. Essentially amoral, they use other people as stepping stones to reach their goals. From a Machiavellian’s perspective, if we allow ourselves to be used, we probably deserve it. P. T. Barnum expressed this mindset: 'There’s a sucker born every minute.'”

What's worse is the 48 laws of power (which I discovered only today):

I think that a lot of Cluster B people were controlled and manipulated by others as children, possibly their role models.  They were taught that they are controlled by outside forces, i.e. that other people determine their value and quality of life.  This leads them to believe that it is acceptable to control others.  It's control or be controlled, after all.

They also may have internalized somewhere along the line that others will leave or abuse them if they don't make an effort to control people.

BPD:  If I don't control your perception of me, and our relationship, you will abandon me.

NPD:  If I don't maintain and control this image of my false self, you will wound my ego.

AsPD:  Controlling people is a way of life, even amounting to entertainment.

The thing is that many times borderline co-exists with this NPD and AsPD disorders. So, most of the time, it is about abandonment, and sometimes, it is about the game.

When I read about some borderline women accusing their ex's of child molesting, I wonder if this is truly a borderline phenomenon or if the person has anti-social characteristics. The anti-social borderlines may be the ones who are contributing to most of these borderline horror stories.
