Hi-I am new here, even though I have been searching through the posts for a couple of months now. I appreciate all of the information that this community provides. My daughter is currently going through a divorce and I am trying to find out as much as possible about these issues to help and support her. My son-in-law suffers from panic attacks and anxiety brought on from PTSD. He is also showing some signs of BPD. During their marriage my daughter experienced verbal as well as physical abuse. Despite this she continues to attempt to treat him with compassion. She is just trying to get through this without triggering him. Unfortunately he has been "trashing" her on social media and then accusing her of smearing him. I appreciate the honesty and compassion of this community.

Hi casita dream and welcome to BPD family. It sounds like your post is more of a parenting post as opposed to being a child of a BPD parent post? If that is the case there is a parenting board where people talk about their children and adult children with BPD. Please let us know.

I wasn't quite sure which section to put my introduction in. The person having difficulties is an in-law and I am trying to help my family member cope with the situation.

I think you are in the right place to learn how to be a support to your daughter while being a calming and centering presence in the midst of the situation.
