Is it typical for them to "brush off" breakups at first only to grieve about them and realize what happened much later?

I have read that this is true.

It seems possible from what I read and what I'm seeing in my ex.  I've come to use the word "clumsy" in how she works through issues.  Of course, I don't know how much of it is for show to me, or that she simply can't do that with the people around her and keep up her "victim" story.

But perhaps the impulse to leave the overwhelming feelings about the relationship doesn't solve their other feelings. And suddenly they realize they went too far.

But why are you asking? Is it because you think you might be in a position to help her with that?

Just curious is all. Most of my questions in this forum are to get a better understanding of them and their patterns. To help me understand more and avoid it with others in the future.
