I wanted to say hello and that I wish I would have stumbled on this site years ago. I have a lot of knowledge about BPD, the treatments, the process and the stigma even though my older teen does not have the formal diagnosis (her therapist and psychiatrist both know she has traits but both refrain from the label and I am very pleased since our particular insurance does not cover this disorder). What I have been missing is a source of support and understanding from those GOING through some of the same struggles. I have lovely, insightful, caring friends but they do not have a child or loved one with BPD. I did wonder if anyone could comment on success with insurance companies. My teen clearly meets criteria for major depression, generalized anxiety, and has a history of eating disorder but after 3 plus years of regular and consistent therapy (outpatient with one two month long term inpatient), the interpersonal relationship, rage episodes, and general day to day difficulties with functioning do not improve. I am very anxious about her future and transitions as she moves from a minor to the age of being an "adult". Thanks for a space to share in a safe manner.

Hi loyaldawn

Welcome to bpdfamily, I'm glad you found us though sorry what brings you here   many members are in similar situations with minors moving to adulthood can be an anxious time to work through, you are not alone. I have no personal experience of insurance situations, this is discussed often here I expect someone will be able to advise. That's so very hard not seeing any improvements, I feel for you, what are the Dr's advising you about this?
