Hello!

I am an only child of a divorced mother with BPD.  Never knew much about it until my therapist recommended Eggshells.  Now I feel like I understand my mother better and see her fear of abandonment in a whole new light.  It is freeing to know that there is an explanation and that I am not alone!

Looking forward to connecting with others in similar situations!

Same situation - only child, divorced mother. Haven't read Eggshells yet, but it's on my Kindle. I read Understanding the Borderline Mother (tore through it in about a day and highlighted nearly every page) after my therapist suggested my mom may be borderline, and it changed my life. Right there with you on the relief of learning that you're not alone. Now the light is on Thought, and it's caused me to make some significant changes, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Hi GeorgiaEv,

I'd like to add my welcome to Brkfst@Tiffanys

I'm a step-parent to 2 young ladies with an undiagnosed BPD mom (uBPDmom) so I hang out on this board too, it has been really helpful in understanding the types of things they could be going through.

I like you started reading once I discovered BPD... .read everything my library system had.  Like you its like that light bulb  Thought just turned on.  Reading was great to get an understanding about what BPD is and what the dynamics are.  Reading was part of the puzzle.

A couple of years later I landed here, this site is the other part of the puzzle for me.  What's great about this site for me is that everyone here "get's it" and everyone has similar experiences.  Everyone then can share what has helped them and you can give some of those ideas a try.  This site also has tons of practical tools and information that are really helpful when negotiating the person with BPD in our lives.

How are things between you and your mom currently?  When you have time it would be great to hear more of your story.

So glad you decided to jump in and join us.

That's great !

And how about you ? Where does this leave you ? Which emotions came up, after having read all of this ?

I remember having read this book and my emotions were all over the place  Smiling (click to insert in post)
