  • What type of relationship are you in?

I'm the mother of an adult daughter with what I am now convinced is BPD.

  • Who else (if anyone), in child's family, has BPD?

    I don't know anyone else ... .though my mother (my daughter's grandmother) was bi-polar ... .

  • What is your child's strongest quality?

She's remarkable. Creative. Engaging. Brings people together. An entertainer.

  • I don't really know given the distance between us.

  • What do you find most difficult in dealing with your child?

The walking on eggshells thing and it hurts that I don't think she can receive my love for her.

  • How would you categorize your child? Diagnosed? Undiagnosed?

Undiagnosed. She does not believe in therapy or therapists.

  • What do you struggle with yourself?

I would like to be closer to her - and not further wound or hurt her.

  • Is anyone in therapy? Child? Parents?

    If so, what types?

    I have been. Almost forever.

  • What are your goals at bpdfamily.com?

I'm 70. She's almost 50. I want to be a better, more supportive mom to her.

TAKE THE PLEDGE HERE I don't know what happened to the pledge.

Hi Cookie48,

Welcome

I’d like to welcome you to bpdfamily. You can take the pledge here https://bpdfamily.com/message_board/index.php?topic=210524.0I’m sorry that your D50 pushes you away. It must be really hard when it’s your child and you keep trying and they don’t reciprocate.

You’re in the right place you’ll find many people in similar situations as you that can give you support and advice. It helps to read as much about the disorder you’ll quickly see the benefits and become proficient over time. How did you find out about BPD? Can you describe more behaviours that suggest that she has BPD?
