A little encouragement during the Holidays

The Holidays can be a difficult time when we’re trying to deal with difficult family members, friends, ex’s and so on. My Holiday wish is that you all remember to think about and consider yourselves. Do something nice for yourself this Holiday season and always.

Hi JNChell!
My wish for you is the same. How are things going? What are you doing to take care of yourself?

Hi
Harri
and thanks. Things have been pretty quiet which is a plus. The tools really work well. It took me a minute to really grasp them and put them to work. All in all, I feel pretty good. Things still show up here and there, but I think I’ve got it when it does.
I’ve been really focused on personal interests and what I need to do to make those things happen again.
The little things that have really helped have been fairly simple. I like candles and dim lighting so I set my sitting space up for that. I like to cook, so I put on music or a podcast and cook away. Just a couple things.
I know that sounds easy, but it’s taken some time and work to get here. It feels good.
The feelings and thoughts don’t always have to be so very acute. I think what helped me the most was eventually accepting everything for what it was and slowly letting go.

WTK,
Thanks for your post. I too am focussing on small things that make me feel better. It is a tough time of year for many of us.
I hope you and your boy have a blessed Christmas.

, thank you. I don’t know what else to say. I don’t post or reply much lately, but I do read. I’m glad that you’re here to receive folks in need. Happy Holidays!

Hi
Zabava
! It can be a difficult time of year. You know, there’s an old saying about the small things in life. At the same time, I don’t imagine that that saying was coined around survivors.
Small things. I was given a 25 pound turkey by my new employer for Thanksgiving. Too much meat for a man and a 5 year old boy. I learned how to make soup. It was actually very good. What things are you doing to grant yourself comfort?

Hey JNChell,
I am watching a lot of bad Hallmark Christmas movies with my girls and trying to stay present. I am working on having a grateful heart. Also grieving and at the same time appreciating the many happy Christmases I had with my Granny and extended family as a child.
And I am so grateful for this community.
