My sister and I suspect she has BPD. We live in England. She called her GP and they referred her to a service that only offers guided self help online. The GP she talked to even brushed over the fact that she had been suicidal twice before. I don't know how to assess help. What is she supposed to do? I want her to get one to one therapy. How can they not investigate and offer therapy to get to know and understand the people that come to them for help to then assess them and find out what's wrong with them and provide help. Instead they direct you somewhere else and tell you to help yourself. What is the point in that. No wonder there are soo many people who live with a mental health condition and have no idea about it and don't get diagnosed. I didn't realise just how bad and little assess there was to mental health services. I know usually a community mental health team would help if someone has BPD but the one where my sister lives only helps if you need secondary services such as if you can't hold a job down or you're self harming and need a social worker etc. My sister has no external difficulties, she does well at uni, she doesn't self harm etc, but she has major internal difficulties that she NEEDS HELP with as it even led her to be suicidal. Does she have to die before people look and say it was serious. Why can't they take it seriously now? I don't know how to navigate through this system. Please if anyone knows of any service or has advice on how to go about this, getting my sister assessed by someone to see if she has BPD and if she does to get one to one therapy for it, please do reply. Thank you so much!

What do they say when you ask them these questions?

Best,
